Steve Martland Hits The Club #1
An iconoclastic composer, Steve Martland's mission was to engage with people outside of the classical concert hall. With his band of saxophones, brass, guitars and drums he brought music to people in clubs, local arts centres and other less conventional venues.
This project is to support the revival of Martland’s genre-crossing music, commission new works inspired by his approach and put them in front of local audiences who may be unfamiliar with contemporary classical music.
The project sees Martland’s compositions for string quartet and the Steve Martland Band played in bars and clubs in Oxford and London alongside newly commissioned works.
Supported as part of the Cultural Programme and by the RVW Foundation.

KOMUNA RESIDENCY
The first of our two residencies in Norwich supported by Arts Council England to develop and create new material, culminating in a recording project in Summer 2023.

GLI/TCH
Komuna Collective returns to The Bullingdon presenting Oxford and London’s freshest experimental musicians, artists, and DJs for a night of beats and bass. Featuring queer electronica, enveloping art projections and KOMUNA’s amplified string quartet, KOMUNA COLLECTIVE return for another night in Oxford, bringing fresh collaborations between their resident DJs, string quartet, and visual artists. Exploring the theme of GLI/TCH, a word derived from Yiddish, originally meaning ‘to slide’, Komuna creates a slippery place to play with their signature fusion of queer techno, light displays, and contemporary classical music. Bolt to Bully for a night without hitches, and catch the bug for KOMUNA

HYPERREALITY
Our biggest project yet. From 19:00-01:00 we will be taking over the venue to present an immersive experience of hyperreality. Spread over two rooms we'll have an array of musicians, DJs, visual artists, light displays and video projections distorting reality and blurring our perceptions of sound and vision.
New Hybrids
We worked with students from the Faculty of Music and the Ruskin School of Art at the University of Oxford to premiere new works for music and film at the The Jacqueline du Pré Music Building.
Watch the video/music collaboration between Julian Day and Adam Possener ‘Let’s Play A Game’ with masks by Gala Hills.
Komuna @ London Fashion Week
We played for Sofia Turekova’s presentation at the Lone Design Club
